Test Report Summary for Product Evaluations

Test Report Summary

CVG Strategy has created a Test Report Summary which ties together multiple test reports, test plans into an easy to access document.

Test Reports, Test Plans, Data and all the information from a particular program can be quite lengthy.  Many test programs may involve dozens of tests many with retest after design modification.  A Test Report Summary can be useful to show to a customer about a specific product or family of products.  They can also be used internally for reference.

A well written test report summary does not require the reader to digest hundreds of pages of technical documents to get to the point: “Is it qualified or is it not?”  It also does not reveal any potentially proprietary or confidential data while illustrating “due diligence” in evaluative processes.

We use the Technical information guidelines based on ANSI/NISO Z39.18-2005, and the essential mechanics of professional writing, including language use, punctuation, and reference format, based on The Chicago Manual of Style, 15th edition to create a very compact and precise Test Report Summary.  Our Test Report Summary include the OMB No. 0704-0188 Report Documentation Form, which US Government customers are accustomed to seeing in formal reports.

Get the most from your developmental evaluation and test program by having a test report summary of tests completed with condensed analysis.  A well constructed summary can provide not only a verification and validation of your products capabilities, but can serve as a lessons learned document to guide development of future products.

Documentation Requirements for Defense Materiel Product Developers

The Department of Defense has specific requirements for reporting during the developmental evaluation process.  An example of this is the Environmental Test Report (ETR) which is Task 406 in MIL-STD-810.  This tasks is to be performed to record the results of environmental laboratory testing.  Environmental testing under MIL-STD-810 can include a variety of the standard’s 28 methods, numerous procedures, and countless profiles.

These reports are used by the acquisition activity to access the environmental worthiness of the equipment tested.  Required information for these reports include test results with specified data, failure analysis, and corrective actions taken.  These reports can be interim reports, notifications of anomalies, or final test reports.

CVG Strategy test and evaluation experts have expertise in MIL-STD-810 and other developmental evaluation standards such as MIL-STD-461 and can prepare reports in accordance with their respective requirements.

Optimizing the Value of Your Test Program

Product testing is an expensive and time consuming undertaking.  By creating a summary report of your test activities once testing is complete you can harness additional value from these efforts.  Beyond supplying marketing with valuable tools and meeting customer requirements, a test summary can provide input to manufacturing quality testing parameters to ensure product quality in production.  These reports can also serve as a basis for design specification in future product development endeavors.
