ISO 9001 revision – 9001:2015 is Out!
ISO 9001:2015 – NEW
The 9001 Revision to ISO Quality Management Systems, the world’s leading quality management standard, has been revised and the final standard has been released.
Why happened with the ISO 9001 revision?
All ISO standards are reviewed every five years to establish if a revision is required to keep it current and relevant for the marketplace. ISO 9001:2015 is designed to respond to the latest trends and be compatible with other management systems such as ISO 14001.
What are the main changes to the standard?
The new version follows a new, higher level structure to make it easier to use in conjunction with other management system standards, with increased importance given to risk. And there have been two additional clauses added.
The new ISO 9001 standard aligns with high-level organizational structure, requiring all new ISO management system standards to be aligned on a high-level structure with a set of common requirements. Additionally, there is a greater emphasis on risk-based thinking as a basis for the management system, more focus on achieving value for the company and its customers, increased flexibility regarding use of documentation, and a more approachable structure for service businesses.
Many companies with ISO 9001:2008 Certifications will be looking at their schedule for their re-certification audit and deciding when to begin the transition of their ISO Quality Management System to ISO 9001:2015. CVG Strategy’s experts are certified as Exemplar Global ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditors, and we have the capability to add value to this process for manufacturing and service companies.
Typically we recommend that a transition of this scale with the significant changes found in this ISO 9001 Revision, be scheduled 10-12 months prior to the scheduled audit, to give time for the new system to be implemented, for everyone to be trained, and for the organization to have time to use it.
The transition audit must be completed by September 2018, don’t wait until the last minute. The registrars will be swamped by January 2018, get help from CVG Strategy we will help you with your transition so you can focus on running your business!
In addition, in many states, we can supplement the cost for training with Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) Grants, similar to the program here in Florida. We have participated in IWT Grants in Louisiana, South Carolina, Massachusetts, Utah, and Ohio.
